Common foxglove
Digitalis purpurea
Biennial. Mixture of pink, mauve and white flowers. From 50 cm to 1.50 m high. Makes beautiful cut flowers. Nectariferous plant of interest to bumblebees and butterflies. Re-seeds itself. Hardiness zone 4.
Full sun, part shade, well drained and rich soil. Sow indoors mid-April, transplant or direct sow after any risk of frost. Sow on the surface. 30 cm between plants.
Germination: 80% in November 2023
