Jalapeno Purple hot pepper
Capsicum annuum

Small hot pepper of 5 to 10 cm length. It quickly turns from green to purple black, then purple and finally red at maturity. Excellent sweet flavor when red. Lavender flowers. Very ornamental plant, 50 cm tall, well suited to pot culture, aeroponics and hydroponics. Heat rating 1 to 5 on the Scoville scale. Strength varies greatly according to color, so it’s up to you to discover at which stage you prefer them. Sometimes almost sweet, but we’ve never tasted any with no heat at all. 85 days to maturity (red).

Full sun, well-drained, rich soil. Sow indoors 10 to 14 weeks before the last frost. 6 mm deep. 40 cm between plants.

Note
Some plants have smaller fruits with thinner flesh, or sometimes larger in diameter. We bought the original seeds from Atlantic Pepper Seeds in 2019. In production every year since 2020, we are selecting to make it more uniform.
