In autumn, the plants can be brought indoors, where they will continue to produce throughout the winter. When placed in the dark, the leaves turn almost white with a sweeter flavor. A heirloom variety introduced before 1865 and popular ever since. 60 days to maturity.<\/p>\n<p>Full sun, part shade, well-drained, rich soil. Direct sowing or transplanting from 3 weeks before the last frost.
