Daucus carota sativus
Early carrot, very sweet and juicy, bright orange color. Develops its sugar quickly and is very good even when harvested young. Excellent raw or for freezing and juicing. Keeps well for several months in cold storage. You can leave a few carrots in the ground in autumn, covered with straw, and harvest them in spring. Protection against deer may be necessary. 65 days to maturity.
Full sun. Loose, well-drained soil. To facilitate seed germination, place 1 or 2 cm of potting soil on the surface before sowing. We recommend growing under netting to avoid damage caused by carrot fly larvae. How to prevent carrot fly. Direct sowing from early May to mid-July (zone 4). 5 mm deep. Thin to 6 cm.
