Tobacco Assomption 201
Nicotiana tabacum
Annual. Cigar tobacco developed at the Assomption Experimental Station (Quebec, Canada) in the 1930s. Large, broad leaves. Plant height 1.50 m and over. Does not need a tutor. Pale pink flowers much appreciated by bees and other pollinators. Blooms from August to September.
Full sun, well drained and rich soil. Sow indoors 8 to 12 weeks before the last frost. Transplant when temperature is above 10°C. Protect young plants from wind at the beginning of the season. Sow on the surface: seeds need light to germinate. 60 cm between plants.
Germination: 85% in November 2025
