Description
Clary sage
Salvia sclarea
Biennial. Aromatic, nectariferous and medicinal plant. Does not bloom the first year. Large wands of small pink, mauve, white and purple flowers. 120 cm high and 50 cm wide. Spectacular blooms from June to August. Attracts pollinating insects and hummingbirds. Hardiness zone 3.
Full sun to part shade. Dry, well-drained soil. Indoor sowing in April or direct sowing in May. Sow on the surface, seeds need light to germinate. 40 cm between plants.
Germination: 87% in November 2023
