Tobacco Crimson Bedder
Nicotiana alata
Annual. Fragrant ornamental tobacco. Red flowers, sometimes pink. Bees, bumblebees and butterflies love it. 1 metre high. The flowers are nocturnal, becoming fragrant in the evening as the sun begins to set.
Full sun, part shade. Well-drained, rich soil. Sow indoors 6 to 10 weeks before last frost. Sow on the surface. 30 cm apart. Re-seeds itself.
Germination: 75% in November 2025
