Welsh onion
Allium fistulosum

A perennial onion that doesn’t form a bulb and resembles a leek. Larger than shallots (green onions). Survives winter easily. Harvest as needed from 2nd year. Re-seeds itself. Grown since time immemorial by our neighbor Francine, who shared seeds with us.

Full sun, part shade. Rich soil. Direct sow after frost or sow indoors 8-10 weeks before. 15 cm between plants. 3 mm deep.

Germination: 95% in December 2025
