Francine’s Welsh onion
Allium fistulosum
A perennial onion that doesn’t form a bulb and resembles a leek. Larger than shallots (green onions). It easily survives our winter. Harvest as needed from the 2nd year. Re-seeds itself. Grown since forever by our neighbor Francine.
Full sun, part shade. Rich soil. Direct sowing after frost or indoor sowing 8 to 10 weeks before. 15 cm between plants. 3 mm deep.
Germination: 96% in November 2024
