Description

Galaxy soybean
Glycine max

Soybean with small brown grains streaked with black. 4-foot-tall plant requiring support. By far our most productive soybean, and the latest too. A very rare variety originating from Russia, kept by the US Department of Agriculture’s Genetic Resources Information Network under the number PI437332 and the name DV 2371. Our stock seeds come from Tamara Clement, Ontario, a very active member of Seeds of Diversity. She’s the one who gave it the name Galaxy, which suits it so well. 120 days (edamame), +140 days (dry).

Full sun, well drained soil. Direct sowing after the last frost. Or sow indoors 10 days before. 2 cm deep. 30 cm between plants.

Germination: 99% in December 2024
Ecological seeds produced at Catherine’s Ornamental Garden.
