Ipomee purpurea

Annual. Violet flowers with white and pink throats. Need a 2 meter stake. Bloom is early and very abundant. Re-seeds itself. Sometimes produces flowers of a slightly paler shade.

Full sun, ordinary to rich soil. Sow indoors in May, using peat pots to avoid disturbing the roots. Transplant or direct sow in early June when temperatures do not drop below 10 degrees at night. 1cm deep, 15 cm between plants.

Germination: 96% in November 2025
