Meadow sage
Salvia pratensis
Perennial. Medicinal and edible. Violet-blue fragrant flowers. Blooms from June to August. Interesting for butterflies, bees, bumblebees and hummingbirds. Makes beautiful cut flowers. Bushy plant, 75 cm high. Also known as meadow clary. Native to Europe. Hardiness Zone 3.
Full sun, part shade. Very well drained soil. Direct sowing in summer or indoor sowing 4 to 10 weeks before last frost. Sow on the surface. 30 cm between plants.
Germination: 62% in December 2025
