Annual. Large plant covered with thorns. 1.50 m tall and 1 m wide. Or more, if grown in rich soil. Also known as Litchi tomato. Fruits 2 to 3 cm in diameter, edible when red. Late ripening. Good sweet flavor. White flowers are very attractive to pollinating insects. Blooms from July to frost. Resistant to the first light frosts.

Full sun, well-drained, rich soil. Sow indoors 8 to 14 weeks before last frost. Transplant when temperature is above 10°C. 6 mm deep. 60 cm between plants. Germinates in 7-10 days at 25-30°C)
