Parsley pea
Pisum sativum var. medullare
A variety of pea grown for its tendrils (small parsley-like branches). Very crunchy with a good pea flavour. Harvest young. Can be eaten raw or cooked. Also makes an excellent shelling pea. Small plant, 2 to 3 feet high. Can be grown in containers.
Full sun to part shade. Well drained soil. Direct sowing from May to August. 2 cm deep and 10 cm apart.
Tendril harvesting can begin 4 weeks after sowing and lasts until flowering. For continuous production, sow successively every 3 weeks.
Germination: 97% in November 2023
