Sacred tobacco
Nicotiana rustica
Annual. Sacred medicinal plant of the Native American peoples. 50 to 80 cm high and 40 cm wide. Small, greenish-yellow flowers. Blooms in July. Also known as Aztec or Mapacho tobacco. Nicotine concentration is very high.
Full sun, well drained and rich soil. Sow indoors in mid-March and transplant when there is no longer a risk of frost and the soil is warm. Protect young plants from wind at the beginning of the season. Sow on the surface. 45 cm between plants.
Germination: 90% in November 2024
