Tomatillo Amethyst and Emerald Geodes
Physalis ixocarpa

Green and purple tomatillo, sometimes just green. Intense, sweet flavor. The inside looks like a geode. It can make the most incredible centerpiece. 4 to 8 cm in diameter. Very productive plant, 1.20 m high. Needs support. Selected by Andrew at Adaptive Seeds for its beauty, originality and flavour. 75 days to maturity.

Full sun, well drained and rich soil. Sow indoors 8 to 10 weeks before last frost. Requires heat for germination, ±30 °C. 6 mm deep. 60 cm between plants.

Note
We’ve never tasted a tastier tomatillo. The darker the purple, the sweeter. According to Isaac: It’s good enough to eat raw and empty a whole dish! And unlike other varieties, its interior is hollow. The seeds are easy to remove, so it would probably be interesting to make stuffed tomatillos with them.
