Tomato Marglobe
Solanum lycopersicum

A large, round, red tomato, 7 to 12 cm in diameter. Excellent old-fashioned flavor, for sandwiches or processing. Long shelf life once harvested. Highly productive, 1.20-metre plant. Harvest begins early in August and is abundant until frost. Good resistance to diseases. An old variety introduced in 1925 by Dr. Frédéric J. Pritchard of the USDA. A cross between Globe and Marvel tomatoes. Semi-determinate. 75 days to maturity.

Full sun, well-drained, rich soil. Sow indoors 8 to 10 weeks before last frost. 5 mm deep. Requires heat for germination, ±30 °C. 60 cm between plants.

It’s not widely available in Canada. We tested it in 2024 and produced it in 2025. We’re very happy to be able to offer it to you. It’s got great strength, a long production run that’s just about finished, but also a taste and size that have charmed us. A slice in a hamburger goes all the way around, takes up a big bun, makes a man’s burger, and Isaac likes it that way!
