Watermelon Chou Cheh Red
Citrullus lanatus
Pink-fleshed watermelon, 6 to 9 pounds. Very sweet. Creeping plant of 2 meters. Productive, 2 to 4 fruits per plant. Ready to harvest when first tendril and small leaf are dry. Keeps for 3 to 4 weeks after harvesting. Has some resistance to mildew. Originally from Shaanxi province, China. Preserved by the USDA seed bank (PI 435990). 72 days.
Full sun, well drained and rich soil. Sow indoors 4 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Transplant when temperature is above 10°C. 1 cm deep. 40 cm between plants.
Germination: 98% in December 2024
