Ha’Ogen melon
Cucumis melo var. reticulatus
A magnificent melon with a truly exceptional flavour. Juicy, very sweet green flesh. 3 to 4 pounds, between 15 and 20 cm in diameter. The outside turns from green to yellow-green when fully ripe. Productive and well adapted to hardiness zone 4b. A variety of Hungarian origin that was developed in Israel in 1950. Awarded the AGM (Award of Garden Merit) in 1993. Also known as Desert Melon, Israël melon. 75-80 days to maturity.
Full sun, well drained and rich soil. Sow indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost. 1 cm deep. 30 cm between plants. Protect from cold nights at the beginning and end of the season.
