Ecological seeds produced at Catherine’s Ornamental Garden.

Note
We bought seeds of this bean in 2018 from Semences Baumaux under the name Japanese Cherry. And that’s the name we sold it under from 2023 to 2025, until we got an email from Amanda at Nana’s Naturals. She provided us with an original Vilmorin-Andrieux description from 1891, which mentions that the color of the Japanese Cherry bean is wine-red, not pink.

In 2025, we compared our seeds with Grand-mère bean from Terre Promise and Coco rose de la Meuse bean found at Graines de Folie. All 3 are identical. We couldn’t find any other place to buy seeds of this bean.

Strangely, like the Japanese cherry bean, it is described as having yellow pods. But they are quite green when young, becoming paler as they mature.

All the other sites that have the Coco Rose de la Meuse bean in their catalog seem to have a wine-red variety that is more in line with the Japanese cherry bean.
