Millet Bird foxtail
Setaria italica Maxima

Annual. Cluster millet. Easy to grow, very ornamental. Up to 1.50 meters high. Brown wands of 8 to 15 cm long. Red-brown seeds, used shelled for human consumption. Very popular with birds, chickens, rabbits, etc. No need for a tutor. Purple foliage at the end of the season. Does not re-seed.

Full sun. Well drained soil. Fast and easy germination. Direct sowing in May. 6 mm deep. 10 cm between plants.
