Description

Cucumber Little Leaf
Cucumis sativus

Excellent quality gherkin for marinades. Harvest between 6 and 10 cm in length. Plants are compact, 3 to 5 feet long, and have very small leaves, making them easy to harvest. Extremely productive and highly resistant to disease. For indoor or outdoor growing*. 58 days.

*One of the few cultivars that is reproducible and parthenocarpicIt produces both male and female flowers, but does not always need pollination to produce cucumbers, which means it can be grown indoors or outdoors under netting. Note, however, that this is not an easy crop to grow indoors, and you can expect a certain number of female flowers to abort before production begins.

Full sun. Well-drained, rich soil. Direct sowing after the last frost or indoor sowing 2 to 5 weeks before. Protect young plants from insects at the beggining of the season. 1.5 cm deep. 40 cm between plants.

Germination: 99% in November 2025
Ecological seeds produced for us by Alexandre Guérin, Prendre Racine, Charrette, Quebec.

Note
This is our favorite variety for making dill pickles, it’s really good quality for pickling. Its shape is perfect, I like that it has a small diameter compared to its length, so you can fit more into the pots. And it harvests much better than other varieties, since you can easily find the cucumbers between its small leaves.

To eat fresh, it’s a little blander than others, but it’s always crunchy and bitter-free.

We grow it in the field, and have not tested it indoors.

    A girl who plants seeds

I planted these light leaf cucumbers in northern Nova Scotia, during the drought of 2025. They grew very well. The little pickling cucumbers are great for snacks, similar to mini munchers. I sold them at the market in “snack packs” with cherry tomatoes and mini sweet peppers. They were a hit.

I net the plants until they started flowering. When I saw that there where no cucumber bugs in my garden, I uncovered them. It’s good there is an option to net this variety.

My garden beds are 4 feet wide. I planted the seeds in a row, straight down the middle of the bed, at 1 foot apart. The small plants did not leave the 4 foot wide bed. It was prefect spacing.

I will grow this variety again in 2026. I recommend.

Le concombre Little Leaf a conquis mon coeur.

Bonjour Julie.
