Basil Genovese
Ocimum basilicum
Annual. Plants grow to around 30 or 40 cm in height, but can sometimes reach 60 cm. Its large, broad leaves are ideal for making pesto. The flowers are also edible. Genovese basil is native to Genoa, Italy. Also known as Genovese Basil, Basil Gênois or Basil Grand Vert.
Full sun, well-drained, rich, moist soil. Sow indoors in April or May. Transplant or direct sow after any risk of frost. Sow on the surface. 30 cm between plants.
