Soybean Ezonishiki
Glycine max
Edamame soybean with yellow and light brown grains. The largest of our small grain soybeans. Very good edamame with a nutty flavor. Or harvest it dry to make a succulent chili. Purple flower. Plant of 20 to 50 cm height. Doesn’t need staking. Very rare variety. Early. 60 days to maturity (edamame) and +75 days (dry).
Full sun, well drained soil. Direct sowing from mid-May to mid-June. 2 cm deep. 30 cm apart.
Germination: 95% in December 2025
Ecological seeds produced at Catherine’s Ornamental Garden.
Note
A very early edamame soybean perfect for zone 3. Like Fiskeby, it can also be used to extend the harvesting season: sow at the same time 3 varieties with different maturities, Fiskeby or Ezonishiki (ready in early August), Tokio Verte or Galaxy (ready in September) and any of the others for harvesting in between around mid-August.
