Oak Fire mustard
Brassica juncea
Annual. Magnificent mustard with green/red/purple leaves. Various shapes. Less pungent than other mustards. Use young leaves for sandwiches, soups, stir-fries or pesto. The seeds, once roasted, have a nutty flavor. They are used as a spice for marinades and can also be used to make mustard. Great resistance to cold. Re-seeds itself. Developed by Tim Peters from Peters Seed and Research, Oregon.
Direct sowing in May, June. Sow in August for fall production. 6 mm deep and 15 cm apart.
Germination: 96% in December 2023
