Mexican Wild Green squash
Cucurbita argyrosperma
Very ornamental squash with green and white stripes. Round shape, 15 to 22 cm diameter. Grown for its large, silvery-gray-edged seeds, which are widely used in Latin American cuisine and appreciated by livestock. Edible flesh, but of no interest. A rare variety preserved by Sandhill Preservation Center in Iowa. 90 days to maturity.
Full sun. Well drained and rich soil. Direct sowing after the last frost or indoor sowing 2 to 5 weeks before. 2 cm deep. 50 cm between plants.
Germination: 94% in November 2024
