Description
Squash Waltham Butternut
Cucurbita moshata
Beige pear-shaped butternut squash. 8 to 14 cm in diameter by 15 to 30 cm in length. Non-fibrous orange flesh with excellent taste. Very good winter storage. Excellent immature, eats like a zucchini. 95 days to maturity.
Full sun, rich and well drained soil. Direct sowing after the last frost or indoor sowing 2 to 5 weeks before. Protect young plants from insects at the beggining of the season. 2 cm deep. 60 cm between plants.
Germination: 99% in December 2025

Note
When I started growing this Butternut in 2006, it was almost a total failure. The years that followed, too… It must be said that it lacked love, abandoned in sandy soil without any irrigation… But slowly the variety probably acclimatized. Our production is now exceptional, still in sandy soil and without irrigation.
