Note
This is our favorite c. maxima squash. In fact, before this incredible Burgess Buttercup squash, we had several favorites. Impossible to say which was the best… Like, for example, with Moranga, I once made a soup so good in 2017 that I still remember it. Or the French Potimarron, which is how I learned to appreciate squash when I started gardening, because it’s beautiful, tasty and very early… In the end, if we produce them, it’s because we’ve already fallen in love with them and we love them all, but that… that was before Burgess Buttercup!
Our original seeds come from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. I don’t know whether it was selected for its good flavor, or because the season was favorable. Since 2007, we’ve grown Buttercup from 3 other sources, and they’ve never tasted so good!
