Russian Red tobacco
Nicotiana tabacum
Annual. Very ornamental smoking tobacco. Plant height 3 to 4 feet. Dark pink or red flowers, depending on the light. The flowers are larger than those of typical tobacco varieties. Variety of unknown origin, added to the USDA seed collection in 1939. Blooms from late August to frost.
Full sun, well drained and rich soil. Sow indoors in mid-March and transplant when there is no longer a risk of frost and the soil is warm. Protect young plants from wind at the beginning of the season. Sow on the surface. 60 cm between plants.
Germination: 80% in November 2024
