Sunflower Standfast
Helianthus annuus

Annual. Sunflower with large edible seeds. 1.50 to 2 meters high. Doesn’t need staking. Smaller and earlier plants than most other grain sunflower varieties. The heads can be more than 30 cm in diameter. Selected by Will Bonsall.

Full sun, rich and well drained soil. Sow indoors in early May. Transplant or direct sow after any risk of frost. 1 cm deep. 70 cm distance. 100 days to maturity.

Germination: 76% in November 2025
