Watermelon Sweet Dakota Rose
Citrullus lanatus
Pink-fleshed watermelon from 7 to 15 pounds, sometimes more. Creeping plant of 2 meters. 2 to 3 fruits per plant. Good sweet flavor. Developed by David Podoll of North Dakota in the 1990s. 80 days.
Full sun, well drained and rich soil. For best results, grow on black plastic mulch, protect from insects at the beginning of the season. Sow indoors 4 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Transplant when temperature is above 10°C. 1 cm deep. 40 cm between plants.
Germination: 90% in November 2025
