Eggplant Udumalpet
Solanum melongena

Purple and white striped eggplant, oval shape, 6 to 10 cm diameter. Good flavor. Harvest young, before the white turns yellow. Early and productive. Plant height 60 to 80 cm. An ancient variety from the town of Udumalpet in India.

Sow indoors 10 to 14 weeks before the last frost. Transplant when temperature is above 10°C. Requires heat for germination, ±30 °C. 6 mm deep. 60 cm between plants.
