Description

Benning’s Green Tint pattypan
Curcurbita pepo

Pale green, almost white. Very good flavor. Harvest when young, between 6 and 10 cm in diameter. Can be eaten raw or cooked. Non-creeping plant that can become large in fertile soil, 3 to 6 feet wide. Mature fruit has a long shelf life and, once the rind has been removed, can be used in soups, purées, cakes, etc. An heirloom variety that was grown before the 1900s. 50 days to maturity.

Sow indoors mid-May. Direct sowing or transplanting when there is no longer a risk of frost. 2 cm deep. 60 cm between plants.

Germination: 95% in November 2023
