Mustard Oak Fire

Annual. Magnificent mustard with green/red/purple leaves. Various shapes. Less pungent than other mustards. Use young leaves for sandwiches, soups, stir-fries or pesto. Roasted seeds have a nutty flavor. They can be used as a spice in marinades, or to make mustard. Highly resistant to cold. Re-seeds itself. Developed by Tim Peters of Peters Seed and Research, Oregon.

Direct sowing in May, June. Sow in August for autumn production. 6 mm deep and 15 cm apart.

Germination: 89% in November 2025
Ecological seeds produced at Catherine’s Ornamental Garden.
