Kale Scarlet
Brassica oleracea acephala

A stunning curly kale that is green when young, gradually turning dark purple to purplish red. The color deepens in the fall until it turns completely purple. 80 cm to 1.20 meters tall. Highly cold-hardy. 60 days.

Full sun, tolerates part shade. Well drained and rich soil. Direct sowing after the last frost, or indoor sowing 4 to 8 weeks before. 6 mm deep. 40 cm between plants.

Note:
A beautiful variety of kale that we really love, especially toward the end of the season, because the cold brings out its flavor—it becomes milder. And in winter, we grow yellow kale! Just plant a few seedlings in pots and keep them in the dark at a temperature between 10–18 °C; they’ll continue to grow, but without light, the young leaves will turn yellow and purple!
