Description

Bean Baie Verte Indian
Phaseolus vulgaris

Dry bean. Climbing plant, need a 2 meters support. White seeds spotted with beige and reddish-brown. Use fresh shell or dry. Excellent for soups. Very rare variety. Believed to have originated with the native peoples of Acadia.

Full sun, well drained soil. Direct sowing after the last frost or indoor sowing 10 days before. 2 cm deep. 15 cm between plants.

Germination: 99% in December 2025
Ecological seeds produced at Catherine’s Ornamental Garden.

Note:
I found this bean on the Hope seed website in 2017. Described as a semi-climber, but at home it climbs to the top of our 8 foot trellises. This is a good bean worth saving. https://seeds.ca/d/?t=d771841900003818
