Deseronto Potato bean
Phaseolus vulgaris
Dry bean. Climbing plant, need a 2 meters support. White grain.
Harvested dry or fresh shelled. Shells easily. An interesting legume for thickening soups, stews and sauces. They can also be mashed to resemble mashed potatoes. A rare Mohawk bean from the Tyendinaga reserve in Deseronto, Ontario. Also known as Mohawk Moon.
Sow directly outdoors in early June at 2 cm depth and 15 cm apart.
Germination: 99% in December 2024
Ecological seeds produced at Catherine’s Ornamental Garden.
