Canteen gourd
Lagenaria siceraria

Flattened ball-shaped gourd, 30 cm wide by 12 cm high. Climbing plant of 3 meters or more that can be left to creep on the ground. More than 10 squash per plant. Uniform and prolific. Ideal for crafts. Can be cooked like zucchini when harvested young. Also known as calabash.

Full sun, well-drained, rich soil. Sow indoors 5 weeks before last frost. 2 cm deep. 50 cm between plants. 120 days to maturity.
