Cucamelon
Melothria scabra

Small 3 cm cucumber with the appearance of a watermelon. Good flavor when harvested young, between 1.5 and 2 cm. Can be eaten raw or candied. Climbing plants 1.50 m high. Also known as mouse melon, Mexican cucumber, Gherkin cucumber. 80 days to maturity. Winner of Les Exceptionnelles 2021.

Full sun. Well drained and rich soil. Sow indoors in early May. Direct sowing or transplanting when there is no longer a risk of frost. 1cm deep. 15 cm between plants.
