Cucamelon
Melothria scabra

Small 3 cm cucumber with the appearance of a watermelon. Good flavor when harvested young, between 1.5 and 2 cm. Can be eaten raw or candied. Climbing plants 1.50 m high. Also known as mouse melon, Mexican cucumber, Gherkin cucumber. 80 days. Winner of Les Exceptionnelles 2021.

Full sun. Well drained and rich soil. Sow indoors 5 to 10 weeks before last frost. Transplant when temperature is above 10°C. 1cm deep. 30 cm between plants.
