De Bresse hot pepper
Capsicum annuum
Hot pepper, heat rating of 4 on the Scoville scale. Conical shape, 5 cm long, red when ripe. Ideal for paprika. Its flavor and use are comparable to Espelette pepper. Productive plant of 50 cm height. Suitable for container culture. An old variety from La Bresse in France. Also known as Romenay red pepper. There is a festival and an association for Bresse red pepper: Les amis du Poivre rouge de Bresse. Very early. 60 days to maturity.
Full sun, well-drained, rich soil. Sow indoors 10 to 14 weeks before the last frost. 40 cm between plants. Requires heat for germination, ±30°C. 6 mm deep.
Germination: 92% in November 2023
