Hot pepper from Bresse
Capsicum annuum

Hot pepper, heat rating of 4 on the Scoville scale. Conical shape, 5 cm long, red when ripe. Ideal for paprika. Its flavor and use are comparable to Espelette pepper. Productive plant of 50 cm height. Suitable for container gardening. An old variety from La Bresse in France. Also known as Romenay red pepper. There is a festival and an association for Bresse red pepper: Les amis du Poivre rouge de Bresse. Very early. 60 days to maturity.

Full sun, well-drained, rich soil. Sow indoors 10 to 14 weeks before the last frost. 40 cm between plants. Requires heat for germination, ±30°C. 6 mm deep.

Note
We found the seeds of this variety at Graines de folie in 2022 and have been producing it ever since. It’s a very early, productive little pepper, and it’s not too hot! We like it for powder or tabasco sauce. Chilli sauce recipe.
